Meet the Librarians Night

A Youth Services Open House You Don't Want to Miss

By Corlan Warren-Horrall July 9, 2026

Ever wonder what actually happens in the Youth Services Department at the Avon-Washington Township Public Library? At Meet the Librarians Night, on Friday, July 24th, from 4–5 PM, you'll get the chance to find out firsthand — and it's more than storytime!

This hour-long open house is designed for adults: tutors, teachers, homeschooling parents, and anyone curious about what the library offers young readers and learners. Youth Services librarians will walk through the department's programming, then invite attendees to get hands-on with the tools they use every day — sensory and STEM toys, a Nintendo Switch, a PlayStation 5, and more. You'll hear directly from the librarians about how these tools are used to build literacy skills and bring the community together.

Throughout the event, librarians will demonstrate a lineup of programs spanning every age group. For grades 5–12, that means a look at E-Sports League, Teen Art Studio, and 512 Innovators. For grades 1–4, expect demos of STEM Lab, Page Turners, and Pokémon Club. And for the littlest patrons, there will be a peek into baby, toddler, and sensory storytimes.

Whether you're a teacher looking for classroom resources, a homeschooling parent looking for a place your children can socialize, or a tutor wanting to point students toward free, engaging activities, this is your chance to see the full picture of what the library provides and meet the people behind it.

The event wraps up with a raffle of classroom supplies for attendees, so there's an extra reason to stick around until the end.
